The Combined Federal Campaign invited me to a luncheon, supposedly to thank me as well as other donator, and CFC coordinators for their hard work and sacrifice. I almost accepted this invitation, the only thing that kept me from doing so was that it wasn't a free lunch. Not only was it not free but to attend I was suppose to go in my monkey suit. I'm still perplexed, I just can't understand who would think that I would just love to spend $10.00 for the honor of dressing up in my Dress Blues so I can listen to some dignitary that I don't really, nor care to know waste 3 hour of my life telling how proud they are of my efforts. This has be something thought by some retired dependent of the officers club. Only somethone with their thinking that far from reality would even think this request was anything but ludicrous. If someone wants me to show to a party all they got to do is pay for the meal. If that persons got the tab then I'll dress in a tutu if the food is good enough. But do not tell someone that they're invited to dinner so you can thank them for theer hard work, and make them pay for their meal. If I have to pay for a portion of that meal then don't tell me how to dress.
What concerns me the most is what type of person would get suckered in to such a deal. Maybe it's a fleeter that wants to get out of work. Of course the luncheon is on a Friday so more than not the squid would probably be going on lib' anyway. Of course it could be one's whose ship is paying for the function to show off it's crew and therefore strongly insists that they attend. These are the only two reason I could think of that would a person would attend this flower club and not need psycological help.
