I was witness to the wierdest thing today. I was just relaxing reading a copy of the Watchman when a dove bumped into the sliding glass door. No big deal of course since birds are known to have problems concieving a barrier that they cannot see. Of course birds are also known to slam into glass door that they have problems conceiving so hovering and bumping and flying away was a much better scenario. After the dove flew "away" I figured the entertainment was over and went back to reading. Of course not 30 seconds later the dove was back at another attempt at trying to get through this barrier that shouldn't be there. It came in close hover as well as a bird designed for forward flight could manage and bumped into the sliding glass door couple times and went away. After the third attempt I was getting a little creeped out and started to speak to the bird as if it understood english. After the fourth attempt I got up off the couch to look for...something. What I saw was that the bird would rest on the bannister of my balcony between attempts. Of course when I got close enough to see this it was close enough for it to see me and fly away. For the life of me I still can't figure what the hell that bird saw that made try to ignore the sliding glass door.
